Things have been quiet, so I'd like to take a quick moment to share with you my plans for PNP in 2010, and review 2009.
2009 was a difficult year for the LAN, we had lots of ups and downs. Overall profit-wise, we did a little less than break even - but that's OK, and expected. We were forced to cancel our last LAN, scheduled for December, due to weak turnouts in the months before.
In 2010 we plan to run a quarterly or bi-monthly schedule of LAN parties. These will begin sometime either in June or July. The reason for the hiatus is two fold.
The first reason is that we are slowly working towards an economic uptick. The Dow is past 10,500 and signs are pointing towards a painfully slow end to the recession we're currently experiencing. While I don't necessarily believe this was the largest contributor to PNP's rocky attendance numbers, I do believe it's played a part. With all hope, things will be in better shape six months from now, or at least headed in the right direction.
Secondly, after 6 years at my current employer, I have decided to accept an opportunity elsewhere. This will be occupying more of my free time, and how I am able to spend that free time. Until I am settled in, I've decided to put side projects such as PNP on hold.
So that is why I feel George Washington is the greatest founding father.. err.. in closing.. I look forward to getting PNP running again later this year. See you all in a few months!
